Tooth care

Examine teeth of your pet weekly. Sometimes teeth become covered by a yellowish coating. This is a tooth calculus. Until it becomes solid, one may remove it by a stick with a cotton wool winded on one tip and dipped in toothpowder or toothpaste, which has no strong smell. After the procedure, wipe and polish teeth with a piece of cloth, wetted in hydrogen peroxide solution.

Here's a recipe of tooth powder: mix a powdered chalk with a small amount of citric acid. If one won't remove the tooth calculus, it will destroy tooth enamel with time, drive gums away from teeth and promote loosening and shedding. If calculus has already become solid, one must remove it by special instruments.

To remove tooth calculus one may add tomatoes in food regularly or add a tasteless tomato juice two or three times a week. If gums are inflamed don't try to cure them by yourself, take the dog to a veterinary surgeon. One may wipe teeth by a tampon, wetted in pale-rose manganese solution as a first aid.

Every week check if there are no broken or loosen teeth or caries in incipient stage. Watch teeth to be free of foreign bodies (bone, chip and other).

Remember that teeth play a very important role in exhibition carrier of your pet. In order to avoid damages don't allow the dog to chew anything. Though you may make him a pleasure by giving a bone made of ox-sinew.
