From the moment of appearance of the animal in the house the customary way of life, most likely, will be considerably changed. It concerns both the schedule of the day, and the arrangement of furniture, and some relations with other relatives.
Cats, in nature, are predators. In natural conditions they prefer predominantly night way of life. The cats living with people in the urban conditions, they are saving some features of behavior. Therefore beforehand solve the problem, whether your kitten will be in the bedroom during the whole night or not. As a rule, the beginners prefer the kitten to sleep on the bed (somewhere near their legs). And the pet instinctively will be closer to its owner, especially if there are no other animals in the house.
The man with a deep and sound sleep can select any variant. The situation changes if you have any problems with sleepness. In that case you'd better not to allow your pet to stay in the bedroom at night. Your anxiety will influence on behavior of a kitten, and in the most cases, will leave an indelible impression in the consciousness of your pet. Used to be wakeful during the whole night the kitten would sleep the whole day. Such disturbance of regime can harm your pet, it can become freely erratic. And, perhaps, later can be aggressive with you and your family.
Remember - practically all kittens, staying with the mother up to age of ten-twelve weeks, have their own character, formed during this period of their life. Its preservation and further development depends on the future owner. Your pet, in due course, will be growing up as the self-assured, friendly and sociable animal, like the member of the family, if in your house is peacefully. If you live in an atmosphere of quarrels and dissonances, your pet will become an outcast in the house. I don't think you'll be glad if your pet will be running away from each new person, appearing in your house, especially if your cat will be trying to harm you and your guests. And as you know the wounds, made by cat, are very deep and, as a rule, they heal too long.
Imagine, you've decided that the kitten will stay in the bedroom for the night. You'd better to put there, firstly, the toilet for your pet and, secondly, the full bowl of the fresh water. I don't recommend you to feed your pet in the bedroom. You'd better find another place for feeding the cat. I can advise you to use enameled bowls; they are more useful than others. The bowls should be small, so that the food and the water should be in the different bowls. If you've got only one animal you should have two or three bowls, the third one should be clean; it'll help you to waste minimum time for feeding your animal.
It's very convenient to use some plastic box as the toilet for your cat. Be attentive, the kitten will get used to this place very fast. The box should be large enough, so that you should not have to buy another later (when your pet will be older). It's not necessary to put a lot of paper or sand into the toilet of a cat. It'll be better if you won't put everything into that box and your pet will be accustomed to such toilet that you can easily wash up. The toilet should always be clean, because cats are very cleanly animals and don't like dirty toilets.
Simultaneously it is necessary to conduct audit in arrangement of furniture. The cat prefers to clear out the intestinal tract in a secluded angle. If the furniture in your house is placed so, that there are some secluded angles behind or under it, you'd better displace your furniture.
Some owners prefer their pet to clear out the intestinal tract only in the water closet. You shouldn't do it, because...Firstly, it is not convenient for your animal. Secondly, and it is much more severe, the cat cannot distinguish the water remaining after outwash, from potable and will be trying to drink it. It can provoke the disturbance of the work of alimentary system.
What else a kitten need during the maiden months of its life in the new house? In food, of course. During the first days in the new house the kitten should receive the same nutrition as in the previous house, if, of course, it's possible. Therefore beforehand ask previous hosts about the nutrition of the kitten.
The best way is to feed your pet by the fish or low-fat beef. But remember, you shouldn't give your pet any raw fish. Only boiled fish is available for your cat. It's better to feed your pet by the fresh raw meat. Avoid giving single-piece milk, as the cow milk differs from cat milk, especially by the structure. The usage of cow milk can provoke the gastric disturbance. For the nutrition of your pet is better to choose such lactic products as cheese or sour cream (the teaspoon of one of these products will be enough for the kitten of eight-weeks age). You should know, that the kitten in this age should receive till 75-90 gr. of protein per day.
